999nevermind.com looks like 1998 on purpose, but it is built so everyone can use it. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we've done
- Pause the chaos: the Pause animations button at the top of every page freezes the cat GIFs, the scrolling marquee, the blinking text, the spinning disc and the visitor counter. Your choice is remembered.
- Reduced motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, everything starts paused.
- Readable colors: text meets AA contrast against its background.
- Keyboard friendly: a skip link, visible focus outlines and real links and buttons throughout.
- Screen readers: every cat GIF has a description, decorative bits are hidden, and headings are in order.
- Any screen size: the layout reflows from small phones to wide desktops and supports zoom to 200%.
Known limits
The cat GIFs are served by Giphy. Nothing on this site flashes more than three times per second.
